Our Editorial Standards
My DIY Lifestyle exists to be the useful step before you spend money, not a sales pitch. These are the standards we hold our content to, so you know how our guides, reviews, and recommendations are made.
How We Create Content
Our content is written by people who actually do these projects, and every guide and review is reviewed by a person before it goes live. We add real detail, judgment, and hands-on notes, including the parts that did not go smoothly. We do not publish content that has not been checked by a human.
How We Test and Research
For tool reviews, our aim is hands-on use over time rather than a quick unboxing: what holds up, what to skip, and what is worth paying more for. For project guides, we note the real steps, materials, and rough costs. When we rely on outside information, we favor manufacturer instructions, official guidance, and primary sources over second-hand summaries.
Honesty and Balance
We try to tell you who a resource is for, who should skip it, and what to watch out for, not just what is good about it. Some links on our site are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, but an affiliate relationship never buys a positive review or a higher ranking. Our opinions are our own. You can read the details on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Accuracy and Updates
If we get something wrong, we want to fix it. We update guides as products, prices, and methods change, and we welcome corrections. If you spot an error, tell us through our Contact page and we will review it.
Not Professional Advice
Our content is for general information only. DIY and home projects carry real-world risk, so always follow manufacturer instructions and local codes, and consult a qualified professional when a job calls for one. See our Terms of Service for more.
